New Delhi: Herbs have been used as natural remedies for various diseases, including viral infections, since the dawn of time. Many herbs aid in the battle against viruses because of their concentration of potent plant compounds, which is why natural medicine practitioners prefer them. However, only a small amount of study on humans has been done to support the health benefits of some herbs, so you should proceed with caution.

In order to live and reproduce, viruses require a host and as a result, they take over the healthy cells in your body. Therefore, if you have a robust immune system, it can get rid of viruses. This is crucial because herbs don’t merely hunt down viruses and kill them. Instead, most of them boost your immune system’s capacity to combat the infection.

Nevertheless, a lot of herbs also work specifically against some viral illnesses, either by preventing them from spreading or by assisting your body in getting rid of them. Listed below are some herbs with anti-viral properties:

1. Sage:

Sage is an aromatic plant that has been used for a very long time to cure viral infections in conventional medicine. Safficinolide and Sage One, which are present in the leaves and stalk of the plant, are primarily responsible for the plant’s antiviral effects. Sage is a well-known cold and flu fighter and it can also relieve inflammation and a sore tongue.

2. Rosemary:

Rosemary is frequently used in cooking but likewise has therapeutic applications due to its numerous plant compounds, including oleanolic acid, which has been shown to have antiviral activity against herpes viruses, HIV, influenza, and hepatitis in animal and test-tube studies. Additionally, rosemary extract has demonstrated antiviral effects against herpes viruses and hepatitis A, which affects the liver.

3. Olive Leaf:

Strong natural antiviral and antimicrobial properties found in olive leaf aid in the treatment of viruses like the common cold, the flu, and potentially even herpes.

Various diseases like Shingles, warts, meningitis, urinary tract infections, HPV, TB, chronic fatigue syndrome, hepatitis B, gonorrhoea, malaria, and pneumonia are among the conditions that olive oil may aid in treating. Studies show that this potent plant combats the viruses and microbes that cause these illnesses and infections.

4. Astragalus:

It is a common ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and is one of the best plants that acts as an immunity booster. It also has adaptogenic qualities, has been shown to be effective against the herpes virus, and can support your immune system during the cold and flu season.

5. Oregano:

Oregano is a member of the mint family and is well-known for its potent healing properties. Of its constituents, Carvacrol has antiviral characteristics. Oregano Oil is regarded as a fantastic natural anti-microbial as it does not have any of the side effects associated with antibiotics. This is largely due to the oregano oil’s two potent constituents, thymol and carvacrol.

Strong antiviral and antibacterial qualities present in these two substances aid in the recovery from infection while thwarting tumours, parasites, inflammation, and allergies.
