Geico is going all digital with its insurance policies in California.

The American insurance giant is no longer offering in-person locations to purchase car and homeowners insurance in the state, the company’s website shows.

A member of the company’s service team confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday that Californians’ insurance policies are still valid.

“We are still offering coverage within the state of California,” said a representative in a Twitter message with The Times. “With the closures happening, your policy will not be impacted.”

Geico insurance policyholders can still access their accounts online or on the company’s mobile app. They can also purchase California policies online, the representative said.

Geico, which until recently had locations across the Los Angeles area, including a branch that opened in Burbank just last year, now lists zero available agents in California.

The Sacramento Bee reported Monday that Geico had closed each of its 38 offices in the state, resulting in more than 100 layoffs. The insurer’s website showed no available locations or agents as of Tuesday morning.

The Bee also reported that Geico is no longer selling insurance over the telephone in California.

Locations in Santa Monica, Hawthorne, Burbank and Torrance that were all open recently were all listed as “permanently closed” online.

Headquartered in Maryland and founded in 1936, Geico is one of the largest auto and homeowners insurance companies in the country.
