Chicago restaurateur Jerrod Melman, executive partner in Lettuce Entertain You, buys Lincoln Park mansion for $6M

Chicago restaurateur Jerrod Melman, who is an executive partner in the Lettuce Entertain You empire that his father, Rich Melman, created, on Aug. 1 paid $6 million for a seven-bedroom, 8,500-square-foot mansion in Lincoln Park. Melman also co-owns the RPM eateries with his siblings and Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

Records show that an Illinois limited liability company managed by Melman was behind the purchase of the brick house in Lincoln Park, which was built in 2005 and sits on a double lot. The 15-room house has six bathrooms, hardwood floors, millwork, designer light fixtures, a great room with exposed beams and floor-to-ceiling windows, a family room with custom built-ins and a gas fireplace, a primary bedroom suite with dual walk-in closets, a private terrace and a bathroom with a makeup vanity, dual sinks and a separate tub and shower.

Perhaps fitting for a restaurant owner’s residence, the mansion’s kitchen has top-of-the-line features, including white cabinets, brass hardware, an opalescent tile backsplash, a dine-up island and a pantry. The lower level has a gym and a media room, while the top level has a wet bar and IPE decks facing east and west.

The house’s backyard has a custom deck and a sport court.

The mansion’s sellers paid $4.17 million for it in 2020, and they then proceeded with some renovations. They listed the mansion in April for $6.3 million, and a deal was struck in mid-May.

In a brief phone interview, Melman declined to comment on the purchase.

The mansion had an $84,310 property tax bill in the 2020 tax year.
