Raksha Bandhan 2023: School girls and women tied rakhi on the wrists of CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur as the celebration of Raksha Bandhan began across India. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is observed every year in India to celebrate the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters, which is commemorated by sisters who tie Rakhi to their sibling’s wrist.

BSF jawans also celebrated Raksha Bandhan with a group of school children at the international border in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the campaign ‘Thanks Jawan’, women in Boniyar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district prepared rakhis for soldiers ahead of the festival.

The celebrations also began in Chhattisgarh where women tied rakhi on the wrists of CRPF jawans in Sukma district.

This year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on the night of August 30 and the festival of Rakhi will not be celebrated the entire day or in the morning hours like previous years, but rather during the night hours. Raksha Bandhan is observed on the full moon day, also known as Poornima Tithi, of the Shukla Paksha in Shravan Maas (Sawan month).
