Locally-Made iPhone 15 May Debut In India Alongside Global Launch

Amid India becoming a key manufacturing hub for electronics and iPhones, this year, Made in India iPhone 15 models will debut in the country in the middle of September, thus, reducing the gap with the global launch, the media has reported. Last year’s iPhone 14 models were made available in the country a month after their assembling was started in the Chennai facility 10 days post the global unveiling. This year’s iPhone 15 line may narrow the gap with the global debut, if not a simultaneous release, said a report by Economic Times (ET), citing sources familiar with the development.

Social networking giant Meta is making a significant move in the European Union (EU) where it will offer paid subscriptions to Instagram and Facebook users, in the wake of the region’s comprehensive digital regulation strategy. The paid versions of Facebook and Instagram will come with no ads for users in the EU, The New York Times has reported, citing three people with knowledge of the development. Those opting for the premium membership plans will have a seamless experience and will get to choose to stay out of the company’s ad-based services that rely on ad-based revenue models tied to user engagement.

OnePlus May Launch A Budget Android Tablet

Handset maker OnePlus may launch a budget Android tablet. The tab is the purported OnePlus Pad Go which briefly appeared on the company’s forums, as spotted by leakster OneNormalUsername. According to a report by Android Authority, the tipster spotted a post on OnePlus Forums which was later removed and could not be seen again. The post seen by the tipster on OnePlus forums referenced the OnePlus Pad Go and another device “OPD2304” in the device identifier fields. The budget Android tab may be launched in India and not all markets, globally.

WhatsApp Bans More Than 70 Lakh Bad Accounts In India In July

Meta-owned WhatsApp has taken down more than 70 lakh bad accounts in the country, in compliance with India’s IT Rules 2021, the company has said. The world’s most popular instant messaging platform banned over 72 lakh bad accounts in India in July. The messaging platform, which has over 500 million users in India, got another record 11,067 complaint reports in the month of July in the country and the records actioned were 72. Meta-owned WhatsApp noted in its monthly compliance report: “Between July 1-31, 72,28,000 WhatsApp accounts were banned. 31,08,000 of these accounts were proactively banned, before any reports from users.”
