Sandeep Reddy Vanga Reveals Ranbir Kapoor Did Not Approve Of Just ONE Thing In ‘Animal’

New Delhi: Sandeep Reddy Vanga stated that Ranbir Kapoor was uncomfortable with only one thing in Animal. For the first time, the actor collaborated with the Telugu director on Animal, filming several daring sequences such as bare-all for the camera and intimate scenes with Triptii Dimri. According to Sandeep, Ranbir was only bothered by the label “superstar” attached to his name in the movie’s title credits, and had no issues with any scene or dialogue.

During an interview with Komal Nahta, Sandeep said, “He didn’t like it at all. I was going to place the superstar tag in the audio teaser. He saw and he said, ‘Nahi, ye nikal do. They do it in the South but not here.’ I told him, ‘Ranbir, this is my feeling, my conviction.’ Through the three years we’ve worked together, that was the only thing Ranbir refused to. He never said no for anything. By the time the poster came in, I told him, ‘If you say no also, I am going to put it.’ That is my feeling, that he is a superstar.”

He further added, “I have seen his movies in Hyderabad and I have noticed the crowd cheer for him. I feel that only a star gets that welcome. Without a reason I had that feeling, you cannot reason out a few things. I felt like giving him the superstar tag. No one asked me why we gave him that tag. He is not on social media. If you want to see him, you have to give money over the counter and see him (in theatres). He doesn’t do many ads either so that’s a star na.”

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’ is the most polarising film of the year with critics calling the film out for its misogyny, glorified toxic behaviour and violence while the film is continuing to mint money at the box office. Even the audience is divided with a few loving the film while others criticising it. Sandeep has said in a recent interview that he knew that the film would receive the backlash and had discussed the same with actor Ranbir Kapoor. The director called his critics ‘illiterate and uneducated’
