Hillcrest teacher honored with ‘Those Who Excel’ award
Hillcrest High School special education teacher Theresa Kelsey recently was recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education with a 2024 Those Who Excel Award.
The annual Those Who Excel Award celebrates incredible classroom teachers, administrators, teams, volunteers, and school support personnel who have made lasting impacts on the students, families and fellow educators in their school communities.
Kelsey began her teaching career 12 years ago in Blue Island, and has been a member of the Bremen High School District 228 for the past eight years.
“Hillcrest is such a good school, full of amazing teachers and great students,” Kelsey said. “This award makes me feel as though we teachers come to work everyday and it doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s hard for a person to say that they are proud of themselves, but I am so proud of this profession and the work we do everyday.”
Lemont Time group earns ‘Those Who Excel’ award
The steering committee for Lemont High School’s new advisory program, Lemont Time, has been named as a 2024 Those Who Excel award recipient by the Illinois State Board of Education. The committee was cited with an Award of Meritorious Service, which celebrates educators who connect with their school community and make a positive impact.
The original Lemont Time Steering Committee includes Denise Dalton, Christie Entler, Brent Gagnon, Tina Malak and District 210 superintendent Mary Ticknor.
