New Delhi: For the next movie based on the popular television series ‘Peaky Blinders’, Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy will be playing Tommy Shelby again. His absence would have left the movie incomplete, according to fans, and the show’s creators couldn’t agree more. The actor is ready to return to Birmingham’s streets with his unmatched style and charisma. The filmmakers also alluded to a possible release window, saying that production would start in September.

Peaky Blinders Movie To Bring Cilian Murphy Back In Action

Cillian Murphy’s involvement in the film adaptation of ‘Peaky Blinders’ has been confirmed by Steven Knight, the creator of the critically acclaimed BBC TV series. After starring in the original series, Murphy—known for his performance in Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Oppenheimer’—will now play the same part again. 

“He definitely is returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth,” Knight said in an interview at the premiere of his BBC series, ‘This Town’.

As Tommy Shelby, the actor went on to become a household figure, connected with the franchise, globally. Fans eagerly sought out ‘Peaky Blinders’ for another dose of Cillian Murphy’s genius after his breakthrough perofrmna performance in ‘Oppenheimer’. 

Creator Steven Knight praised Cillian’s professionalism and his well-earned run of accolades during the interview.

He said, “It was so deserved. I mean he’s brilliant, and he’s such a great human being and he leads the line when we’re shooting and he’s so level-headed and straightforward, he deserves everything he gets.”

Although the precise release date is still unknown, the most recent information indicates that production is scheduled to start in September 2024. That implies that more information about the film’s 2025 release date in theatres will soon be available. In the past, Cillian expressed his willingness to accept the part provided the script met his standards. 

Murphy had told Variety.com in an interview, “If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let’s do it.”
