Actor Taylor Kinney, who plays Chicago Fire Department Lt. Kelly Severide on NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” has traded up, paying $2.75 million in March to buy a three-bedroom, 2,750-square-foot condominium on the 45th floor of a New East Side tower from Duracell CEO Thom Lachman and his wife, Rhonda.
Kinney, 41, long has lived in Chicago and in addition to “Chicago Fire,” has played the same role on the TV shows “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.” In 2017, Kinney paid $1.22 million for a 3,380-square-foot unit in a renovated loft building on the Near West Side.
Now, Kinney has bought a unit closer to the lake. And the New East Side is a neighborhood that Kinney has resided in before, as he rented in the Aqua Tower before buying the Near West Side loft in 2017.
Recently renovated through a gut rehab, Kinney’s new 45th-floor unit is in a building that was constructed in 2007. It has three bathrooms, an open floor plan, solid walnut floors, quartz and marble countertops, Grabill high-gloss cabinets, handmade hardwood built-ins and unobstructed views of Millennium Park, Monroe Harbor and the Chicago skyline.
The Lachmans had paid $2.73 million in 2017 for the condo. They first listed the unit in September 2021 for $3.35 million and then cut their asking price in February to just under $3 million.
Nicholas Colagiovanni, who represented Kinney in the New East Side purchase, did not respond to a request for comment. Kinney’s Near West Side loft unit is not presently on the market.
Kinney’s new unit on the New East Side had a $33,989 property tax bill in the 2020 tax year, plus $1,577 a month in homeowners association dues.
