All lanes were reopened on the Stony Island ramp after being shut down for hours after a fatal shooting overnight, Illinois State police said.
Illinois State police shut down a ramp from Stony Island to the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday morning to investigate a fatal shooting after one person died and another person was wounded, officials said.
About 2:20 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash with two gunshot victims on the Stony Island ramp heading to northbound I-94, according to an ISP news release.
Before Illinois state police arrived at the scene, a tow truck driver stopped to assist and a shooting ensued. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to a local hospital after being wounded by gun fire, officials said.
The lanes were reopened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
