Paris Olympics 2024: The Paris Olympics 2024 has already etched itself as one of the most infamous Games in the history, with a long list of controversies occuring during the tournament. The long list has now featured yet another controversy, but this time around, social media has a major role to play in it, as the Spain Vs Egypt Beach Volleyball sparked a huge debate.

The reason behind the debate was the attire of both the sides, with Spain’s Women team donning the regular outfit seen in the sport, but Egypt Women’s team opted to cover themselves completely and wear hijab.

Spain and Egypt were pinned in the same group, and it was a crucial fixture, as the result would have determined the quarter final slot from the group. The result went as per everyone’s expectations, and that was, Spain winning in straight sets, powered by the emphatic performance from the star duo of Liliana Fernandez and Paula Soria Gutierrez.

Here are some of the viral reactions:

Egypt Women’s Difficult Journey To Paris Olympics 2024

Egypt Women’s Beach Volleyball team, abiding by their religious faith, demanded the authorities to allow the team to wear Hijab during the games, but the French authorities denied their request, due to their pre-imposed ban on wearing Hijab at the Games.

“I want to play in my hijab, she wants to play in a bikini. Everything is OK, if you want to be naked or wear a hijab. Just respect all different cultures and religions. I don’t tell you to wear a hijab and you don’t tell me to wear a bikini. No one can tell me how to dress. It’s a free country, everyone should be allowed to do what they want,” said Doaa Elghobashy, as reported by NDTV Sports.
