Chennai: Teacher Arrested Under POCSO Act After 17-Year-Old Boy Ends Life Over ‘Break-Up’

Chennai: The police have found a breakthrough in the case of the suicide of a 17-year-old boy in Ambattur, the police on Wednesday arrested his teacher reportedly since she was in a relationship with the boy but she snapped the ties after she got engaged to another man. The teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and abetment to suicide of IPC. 

According to a report on Times of India, the victim completed his Class 12 this year and attended a counseling session for joining an art college on August 30. However, upon returning home, the boy died by suicide. 

The police then registered a case based on the complaint by the family.

A cop told The New Indian Express that they did not find any suicide note at his home

Hence, the police started questioning the family members and combed his phone. In his phone, the police found out that he was in contact with Sharmila and they had even taken intimate pictures with each other. 

Following this, Ambattur all-women police questioned the victim’s friends and school and collected information about their closeness. 

They also found out that the boy attended the tuition which was run by the woman for the past two years. 

However, K Jothilakshmi, all-women police station inspector said that the victim got to know that the woman got engaged to another man and she also started to avoid his phone calls. 

The boy had told her to continue the relationship and both of them started to argue about this. However, the woman refused to pay heed to him. Therefore, in frustration, the boy took the extreme decision.
