Heat index values, the “feels like” temperatures, could potentially reach 110 degrees on Tuesday. Overnight temperatures are only expected to drop to the mid-to upper 70s. Climate change is making the Chicago area more humid, which increases heat index, and makes the nights hotter. While everyone is encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and seek air-conditioning, older adults, children and people with upper respiratory issues are advised to avoid outdoor exposure for extended periods.
