Sarfaraz Khan was the lead act as his teammates successfully convinced him to opt for the Decision Review System (DRS) leading to the dismissal of Will Young on Day 1 of the India vs New Zealand 2nd Test at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. Virat Kohli also came to Rohit seemingly asking him to go for the referral which ultimately proved to be the right call as the umpire had to reverse his decision and give Young out.

It all happened off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin who got the right-handed batter caught behind. However, neither the bowler nor the keeper seemed coninced. Only Sarfaraz, stationed at a catching position near the bat, seemed animated and started appealing towards Ashwin and then asking Pant. Neither of the two seemed as convinced as Sarfaraz himself who went to Rohit to ask for the review. Virat too seemed to support Sarfaraz and the Indian captain ultimately went in for the referral.

As it turned out, Young had got a bit of a glove on the ball which meant he had to go back to the pavilion, resulting in a breakthrough for the hosts.

India Make 3 Changes To Their Playing 11s

Notably, after losing their Test series opener in Benglaur, India have made three changes to their Playing 11s. While they have brought in Akash Deep instead of Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill has walked into the team in place of KL Rahul. Washington Sundar replacing Kuldeep Yadav is the third change that Rohit Sharma & Co. have made to their Playing 11.
