The tragic incident, which occurred on Deepavali, involved Shabarish and six friends, all reportedly intoxicated at the time.

According to police, the group of friends gathered in Bengaluru’s Konanakunte area on 31st October, dared Shabarish to sit atop a box of lit firecrackers. As part of the challenge, they promised to buy him an autorickshaw if he went through with it, news agency PTI reported.
