IND vs SA 2nd T20I: South Africa defeated India by three wickets in the 2nd India vs South Africa T20I of the four-match series at the St George’s Park, Gqeberha on November 10 (Sunday). With the thrilling win, South Africa levelled the series 1-1. Despite Varun Chakaravarthy’s five-wicket haul in the second innings, the Proteas batter Tristan Stubbs, with help of Gerald Coetzee’s quickfire cameo, chased the target successfully with three wickets remaining in what was a closely-contested match.

After winning the toss, South Africa captain Aiden Markram opted to bowl first against Suryakumar Yadav & Co. India lost early wickets as they lost their top three for just 15 runs. Sanju Samson, after having registered two consecutive T20I centuries, fell for a three-ball duck. Abhishek Sharma continued his lean patch and got dismissed for four runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav too could not contribute as he fell for four runs.

Hardik Pandya’s 45-ball 39 runs knock took India’s total to 124-6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 125, South Africa got off to a decent start with some boundaries coming off opener Ryan Rickelton’s bat. However, Arshdeep Singh got India their first wicket, reducing SA to 22-1. However, it was Varun Chakaravarthy who delivered the crucial blows by removing Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller and reduced South Africa to 66-6 in 12.2 overs. Chakaravarthy claimed his maiden T20I five-wicket haul as he registered figures of 5-17 in 4 overs.

However, Tristan Stubbs hung through till the end to ensure the Proteas got home without losing any more wickets. He made a 41-ball 47 runs knock. Gerald Coetzee also supported Stubbs with a crucial 9-ball 19 runs knock.
