An autopsy performed Saturday confirmed that a woman found with multiple stab wounds in northwest suburban Des Plaines died as the result of a homicide, authorities said.
Des Plaines Police responded to the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a stabbing. Officers found the still-unidentified 50-year-old woman in the hallway of an apartment building with multiple stab wounds, police said.
Officers provided first aid to the woman until paramedics arrived and transported her to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she died early Friday morning.
The autopsy confirmed the woman died from multiple sharp force injuries, and her death was ruled a homicide.
Police said preliminary information suggested the stabbing was an isolated incident, and that there was “no threat to the community.” An investigation was ongoing, police added.
