1 fatally shot, 1 wounded, in shooting in Chicago’s River North

A woman was killed and another was injured after a shooting at a hotel in the River North neighborhood Saturday night, according to Chicago Police.

Officers responded to a person shot on the 300 block of West Grand Avenue around 8:15 and found a 29-year-old woman in a hotel lobby with a gunshot wound to her neck. She was transported to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.

Upon searching the building further, police said they found another shooting victim inside a guest room with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, also was transported to Northwestern Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, the 29-year-old victim told officers that the suspect was an unidentified male who fled the scene in a tan SUV. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Grand Avenue.

No one is in custody.
