Northbound lanes on Lake Shore Drive have now reopened after an early morning accident at Roosevelt Road left one person dead, according to Chicago police.

A man, 26, was driving northbound in a Dodge Ram pickup truck when he struck a 72-year-old male pedestrian who was standing in the median near the 1100 block of South Lake Shore Drive around 5 a.m., police said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene. The 26-year-old remained on scene and declined emergency medical services.
