In a tragic incident, a 7-month-old baby girl was killed by one of the family’s three pit bulls in Columbus, Ohio, a US state, leaving the family heartbroken, as per the New York Post report.
Sharing her grief on social media, the baby’s mother, identified as Mackenzie Copley, wrote, “I will never understand why!!!” Alongside sharing photos of her daughter cuddling with the dogs, she also wrote, “I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day.”
Her husband, Kameron Turner, also shared his grief online, expressing, “Life is so not fair. How can I continue living without her?”
As per The New York Post, the specific circumstances surrounding the attack remain uncertain. Police confirmed that the child was bitten and said the situation “escalated quickly,” though they did not clarify which of the three dogs was responsible.
Dogs Taken Into Custody
Franklin County Animal Control has taken the dogs into custody and is investigating to determine their fate. “Elizah’s face would light up the room and her laugh was contagious,” read her obituary, as quoted by The New York Post. Her parents described her as “never without a smile.”
Columbus Police Sergeant James Fuqua told local station WBNS, stating, “There is really not a lot of words I can say to convey how I feel.” “Everyone in this process is literally grieving as if this child belonged to us, because most of us are parents and can’t imagine just how this scene is,” he added.
