Under Axar Patel’s captaincy, Delhi Capitals (DC) have had a strong start to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, winning four out of their five matches so far. The team looks well-balanced and confident, but one major concern has been the poor form of young opener Jack Fraser-McGurk.
Fraser-McGurk, who had impressed in the previous season, has struggled to get going this year. Despite opening the innings, he has managed to score just 46 runs across five matches and hasn’t registered a single half-century. His early dismissals have often put additional pressure on the middle order.

The issues were clearly visible in the recent games – he was dismissed for a golden duck by Deepak Chahar against Mumbai Indians and also got out without scoring against Chennai Super Kings. These repeated failures have raised questions about his role in the XI, especially considering the expectations that come with his hefty price tag.

Delhi Capitals had bought Fraser-McGurk for Rs 9 crore in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, banking on his explosive potential.
Last season, he scored 330 runs in nine matches with four half-centuries, proving his ability to dominate attacks. However, he hasn’t been able to replicate that success this time around.

Despite this setback, Delhi Capitals (DC) remain in a strong position on the points table with 8 points and a net run rate of +0.899. But if they hope to sustain their momentum and push for the playoffs, Fraser-McGurk will need to rediscover his form and contribute meaningfully at the top of the order.
