In the midst of the continuing scandal surrounding the alleged romance between South Korean actors Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, the family of the late actress has taken legal action by filing a criminal complaint against the ‘Queen of Tears’ actor. The legal counsel for the family formally announced the case at a news conference on May 7, 2025. The complaint accuses Kim Soo Hyun of breaking the Child Welfare Act.
Unsettling new information was shown during the press conference, including an audio tape that aired for the first time.
During the press conference, the Garo Sero Institute played a clip from an audio tape that had been made public before. An anonymous female voice, purportedly Kim Sae Ron’s, recounted terrifying events concerning Kim Soo Hyun in the audio clip. Allegedly, the voice described the actor’s terrible behaviour throughout their connection, including sexually graphic images he sent and indecent remarks he made.
According to the claims, Kim Sae Ron was a victim of emotional and sexual abuse starting when she was in high school. The actress, who died earlier this year, allegedly acknowledged that she had sexual intercourse with Kim Soo Hyun when they were younger.
Kim Soo Hyun’s Tearful Press Conference
This legal action follows Kim Soo Hyun’s first public speech since the claims went viral. The actor had an emotional media conference when he acknowledged dating Kim Sae Ron but strongly disputed that she was a minor when they dated.
Afterwards, Kim Soo Hyun sued the family and the YouTube channel believed to have leaked the photographs. The allegations have been devastating to his business, causing him to lose endorsement arrangements and brand relationships and even put a stop to production on his soon-to-be-released web series.
