India-Pakistan Latest Updates: There were no reports of firing along the Line of Control in the night after Pakistani drones were sighted in various places in Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat. The drone sighting, even after a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, evoked a sharp response from the central government.

In a statement issued around 11 pm, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the armed forces were maintaining a strong vigil on the situation. He said they have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations along the International Border as well as the Line of Control.

He also called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address the violations and deal with the situation with “seriousness and responsibility”.

Drones were seen in Srinagar, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, Reasi and Ganderbal, and several other areas along the LoC and several cities witnessed a blackout.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed hearing explosions in Srinagar. In a post on X, he said, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.”

Surat MLA Harsh Sanghavi also confirmed several drone sightings in Kutch and urged people to stay safe and not panic.

However, reports claim that the night was mostly peaceful in these areas as no firing was reported after 9 pm. No drones were sighted in Rajouri, Pathankot, Jammu, Srinagar, Firozpur, Akhnoor and Poonch.

Residents have been asked not to move out of their homes and to stay away from windows. “We will be informing you when we get the green signal. Please ensure compliance and please don’t panic,” it said.

The district administration has also issued helpline numbers. “For any clarifications, please get in touch with us on our numbers: 1. Civil control room – 01832226262, 7973867446; 2. Police control room – City 9781130666, Rural 9780003387,” the statement added.
