In a moment that spoke louder than words, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) celebrated Eid Al-Adha by exchanging sweets at the Fulbari border in West Bengal on Monday, rekindling a tradition that reflects the spirit of goodwill between the two neighboring nations.

The exchange, captured in this video, shows members of both forces sharing smiles and sweet boxes under a clear sky — a rare yet powerful display of camaraderie that transcends fences and flags. This heartwarming ritual, observed at several points along the India-Bangladesh border during major festivals, is a symbolic gesture. It not only acknowledges the cultural ties shared by both countries but also reinforces mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

The Fulbari border outpost, located in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, has seen similar friendly exchanges in the past during festivals. For those stationed at international borders, far from their families, these moments of shared humanity become all the more poignant.

Eid-al-Adha 2025:

Eid Al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, celebrated with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity. Eid-ul-Adha is the significant occasion of great faith, reflection, and giving. The day honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, symbolising the spirit of devotion, sacrifice, and charity. From offering special prayers to performing Qurbani and sharing festive meals, communities come together to mark this holy occasion. The families gather to celebrate the spirit of sacrifice with prayers and gifting. It is, however, a moment to celebrate love and gratitude.
