Warren holds onto the top spot after Week 1 as other teams shuffle.

1. Warren 1-0 (1)

Also a standout wrestler, linebacker Royce Lopez has established himself as a key contributor in the Blue Devils’ front seven.

2. Antioch 1-0 (3)

Gavin Stone, with 10 carries for 182 yards and a TD, provides a good chunk of the Sequoits’ 377 rushing yards against Schaumburg.

3. Libertyville 1-0 (5)

Linebacker Erich Walldorf records 14 tackles, including three for a loss, against Lemont.

4. Grant 1-0 (4)

North Dakota recruit Tyler Zdon gains more than 200 yards and scores four times in just three quarters against Mundelein.

5. Wauconda 1-0 (6)

Jackson Rudolph also gets into the end zone four times and rushes for 164 yards against Hinsdale South.

6. Carmel 1-0 (7)

Nebraska recruit Trae Taylor completes 12 of 13 pass attempts for 207 yards and four TDs against Grayslake Central.

7. Lake Forest 1-0 (8)

Linebacker James Elliott records eight tackles, a forced fumble and a safety as the Scouts shut out Deerfield.

8. Stevenson 0-1 (2)

Aidan Crawley rushes for 128 yards and a TD on 18 carries and also throws a TD pass against Prospect.

9. Vernon Hills 1-0 (NR)

Giuseppe Urso and Colin McMurray combine for 231 yards on 33 carries as Vernon Hills shuts out Grayslake North.

10. Zion-Benton 1-0 (NR)

Jamere French rushes for 163 yards and three TDs against North Chicago in the Zee-Bees’ second season-opening win since 2017.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior running back Aaron Stewart, a two-time state champion in wrestling and Illinois commit in two sports, rushes for 438 yards and six touchdowns on 43 carries during Warren’s 43-36 season-opening nonconference win at Hersey.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Junior kicker Jack Zaban makes a team-record three field goals from 24, 29 and 36 yards, boots three touchbacks and adds a 73-yard punt during Libertyville’s 24-14 season-opening nonconference win at Lemont.
