A body found in the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve last month has been identified by the DuPage County coroner’s office as missing Naperville woman Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede.

The identification was made through dental records, which officials had been waiting to receive before being able to verify her identification, the coroner’s office told the Naperville Sun.

There is still no confirmed cause of death for Abosede.

“Our condolences go out to Sinmi Abosede’s family,” the coroner’s office said in the Monday release. “It is distressing when a loved one goes missing, and the prolonged period of waiting for identification must be further heartrending. We are hopeful that the family can now begin healing.”

Abosede, 46, was last seen on July 30, walking away from her home in the 2100 block of Sudbury Street in Naperville. After large-scale search efforts to find her proved unsuccessful, Abosede’s body was located in the southwest corner of the Springbrook prairie on Aug. 14, near 83rd Street and Chandler Drive.

Naperville police officers responded to the area and were led through a dense area of high grass in the forest preserve to the location of a deceased woman, whose clothing matched that of what Abosede was last wearing.

The forest preserve district police are leading the investigation into Abosede’s death. A forest preserve spokesperson said the investigation remains ongoing and authorities continue to believe that no foul play was involved in her death.

“Sinmi’s family wishes to thank everyone in the community for the remarkable support they showed throughout the difficult times since the day she went missing,” the release said. “They are comforted by cherished memories of Sinmi as a wonderful wife, mother, family member and friend to so many.”

Abosede’s husband Gbenga has previously said that the two were “college sweethearts” who had been married for 18 years and shared four children. Abosede was also a parishioner of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville.
