At least five persons have been killed and seven others have been injured following an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing plant in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh.
Tuhin Sinha, SP Anakapalli, said that the explosion in the fireworks manufacturing plant took place in Kailasapatnam in the Kotavuratla mandal of the Anakapalli district.
According to local reports, seven others have been seriously injured in the accident and were taken to a hospital in Narsipatnam.
The explosion occurred in the premises of the firecracker manufacturing unit on Sunday afternoon. After the fire, the explosion spread to the whole unit.
Police officials and emergency services have been rushed to the scene after the accident. Meanwhile, the rescue operations have been underway.
