One person was killed and eight were injured in two separate shootings on Chicago’s South Side early Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.

The first shooting ensued after two groups of men got into a physical altercation in the Chinatown neighborhood at approximately 3 a.m.

Shots were fired in front of Lawrence’s Fish and Shrimp on South Canal Street, and four men were struck.

A 39-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A 34-year-old victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in fair condition.

Two other victims, 21 and 27, self-transported to Stroger. The 21-year-old was in good condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the left calf. The 27-year-old was in critical condition at last check, with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Approximately two hours later, five men self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds following a shooting on the 5100 block of South Calumet in the Washington Park neighborhood, police said.

The victims, who range in age from 23 to 24, were all in good condition at last check, but none were cooperating with officers, police said.

No one was in custody in either shooting and Area 1 detectives are investigating.
