A major accident took place in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai on February 5. A 10-year-old girl died while her brother was injured after being hit by a cement mixer at Platina Junction on the Kurla Road in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area.

It is being told that both the children were going home from school on a bike. As per the details, a cement mixer truck hit the bike from behind. In this accident, the girl died on the spot. At the same time, her 6-year-old brother has been injured.

The police said that the responsibility of bringing and taking both the siblings to school was given to a rickshaw driver, but the accident happened when the rickshaw driver was taking them home by bike instead of rickshaw. In this case, the BKC police has registered a case of negligence against the cement mixer driver and the rickshaw driver.

According to the information received by the police, the name of the girl who died in the accident is Shifa Sheikh, who is a resident of BKC area. Shifa was a student of Standard 4 at Durello Convent Girls High School. Her brother Umar Sheikh studies in Standard 2 at St. Teresa School. The family had entrusted the responsibility of bringing and taking both of them to school to rickshaw driver Jafar Pathan.

However, on Wednesday, Jafar Pathan’s bike met with an accident, in which Shifa was seriously injured. Pathan informed Shifa’s family about this incident. After this, when they went to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, the doctors there told the family that Shifa had died. Umar escaped with minor injuries and and undergoing treatment. In this case, Shifa’s father Sohail Sheikh has filed a case of negligence against cement mixer driver Altaf Farooq Ahmed and rickshaw driver Jafar Pathan. According to the police, further investigation is underway.
