A bus accident in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district on Tuesday evening resulted in the loss of at least 11 lives and left over 20 individuals injured. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm near Khapri village under Kumhari police station limits, as employees of a distillery company were returning home after work, according to City Superintendent of Police Harish Patil. Preliminary reports suggest that the bus, carrying approximately 30 passengers, veered off the road and plunged into a 40-foot-deep pit used for mining `murum’ soil, a construction material, news agency PTI reported.

Upon receiving the alert, local authorities mobilised a rescue operation to assist those affected by the incident. The injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, he said.

News agency ANI shared visuals from the accident site.
