3rd Chicago Bears player declared out for ‘Monday Night Football’ with a concussion

Chicago Bears left tackle Braxton Jones has been downgraded to out for Monday night’s game in Minneapolis with a concussion and did not travel with the team when it departed Halas Hall on Sunday afternoon.

Jones had not been listed on the Bears injury report at any point this week, raising questions as to when he experienced the head trauma that preceded his concussion diagnosis.

He is now the third Bears player to be declared out for the “Monday Night Football” game against the Minnesota Vikings with a concussion, joining running back Roschon Johnson and fellow offensive lineman Ryan Bates.

Veteran offensive lineman Larry Borom is the most likely replacement for Jones at left tackle.

Jones missed two games with a knee injury last month and the Bears failed to score a touchdown in either game, lopsided losses to the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.

Jones missed six games last season due to a neck injury that landed him on injured reserve.

In other roster news, the Bears elevated running back Darrynton Evans from the practice squad, looking to aid their backfield and special teams depth with Johnson out and D’Andre Swift (groin) listed as questionable.
