Pitchfork Music Festival has its summer 2024 lineup, with headliners Black Pumas, Jai Paul and 100 Gecs Friday, Jamie XX, Carly Rae Jepsen and Jessie Ware Saturday and Alanis Morissette, Brittany Howard and Muna on Sunday.
The festival will play Union Park July 19-21 in Chicago. Tickets are on sale 10a.m. Wednesday along with the announcement: 1-Day General Admission tickets start at $109, 3-Days at $219.
Pitchfork PLUS tickets are $199 (single-day) and $399 (three-day).
New this year are VIP Access tickets, starting at $379 (single-day) and $699 (three-day).
VIP Access will be a change for the proudly democratic Pitchfork Music Festival. VIP Access tickets include front-of-stage viewing zones at both the Green and Red mainstages, as well as the previous side-stage bleachers, plus the Lollapalooza-sounding backstage lounge with air-conditioned restrooms, drinks and meals, massages and other extras.
The festival of alternative rock, indie, electronic music and hip hop dates back to the Intonation Festival in Union Park in 2005, with the first full Pitchfork Music Festival in 2006. It has run annually in the Near West Side park except for a pandemic cancellation in 2020, and also includes the CHIRP Record Fair and a range of local vendors. Daily capacity is 20,000.
Its namesake Pitchfork magazine, owned by Condé Nast, was hit by layoffs earlier this year, with a decision to merge the music publication into GQ.
Also in related news, Lollapalooza is expected to announce its lineup of bands for Aug. 1-4 in Grant Park on March 19.
