Man seriously wounded Friday night by gunman on scooter in River North

A man was listed in serious condition after being shot by someone traveling on a scooter Friday night in the River North neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a 40-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle parked in the 500 block of West Scott Street when he saw a male approach with a firearm. The victim then pulled out a handgun, police said.

The victim suffered wounds to the leg and the groin, and was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, but no one was in custody. Detectives are investigating.
