Air India on Thursday said that its international flights will have to take an alternative extended route after Pakistan closed its airspace for all Indian airlines on Thursday.
In a post on X, Air India said that due to the announced restriction of Pakistan airspace for all Indian airlines, it is expected that some Air India flights to or from North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East will take an alternative extended route.
“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen airspace closure that is outside our control. We would like to reiterate that at Air India, the safety of our customers and crew remains top priority,” the airline said.

Similarly, IndiGo also said some of its international flights have been hit due to the sudden airspace closure by Pakistan.
Pakistan on Thursday said that it will bar Indian airlines from using its airspace amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan due to the Pahalgam terror attack.
“In view of the ongoing situation and Pakistan air space closure, a few international flight schedules may be impacted. We’re working to minimise the inconvenience,” it said in a post X.
“We understood the inconvenience this may cause and our teams are doing their best to help you reach your destination at the earliest,” it added.
IndiGo also encouraged that flyers check the latest flight status and explore rebooking options or claim a refund through the airline’s website in case their flight is impacted.
