A fire on Aurora’s East Side in the early hours of Sunday morning left a townhouse uninhabitable, officials said.

At around 12:50 p.m., Aurora firefighters responded to a townhome complex in the 500 block of Watercress Drive, according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department. Officials said in the release that no one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the second floor of a two-story townhouse, officials said. Fire crews attacked the fire from the outside of the house first before moving inside to fully extinguish the remaining flames, the release said.

The fire was fully extinguished within 26 minutes of the initial 911 call, according to the release. Officials said the fire did not extend into other units and was contained to the end unit of the townhouse complex.

Four engine companies, two truck companies, three medic units and two chief officers responded to the fire, which represents a total of 26 personnel.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
