Social media sensation and ‘Bigg Boss 16’ contestant Abdu Rozik was reportedly detained at Dubai International Airport on Saturday following allegations of theft. The 21-year-old singer and influencer, who hails from Tajikistan, had just arrived from Montenegro when authorities took him into custody, Khaleej Times reported.

Abdu Rozik’s team confirms the detention

While details around the incident remain unclear, the management company representing Rozik confirmed the detention. In a brief statement to the media, they said, “All we can say is that we are aware he has been taken into custody on allegations of theft.” The company refrained from disclosing further information, and Dubai authorities have yet to release an official statement.

Who is Abdu Rozik?

Abdu Rozik rose to fame not just for his musical talent and charm but also for his remarkable life story. Born with a growth hormone deficiency, Rozik stands just over three feet tall. Despite physical challenges, he has become one of the most popular young public figures across South Asia and the Middle East.

His unique persona, coupled with his witty one-liners and vibrant energy, earned him a massive following after appearing on Bigg Boss 16. He also featured on Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull and was most recently seen in Laughter Chefs: Entertainment Unlimited Season 2, where he was paired with YouTuber Elvish Yadav.

However, Rozik exited the show mid-season when he took a trip to Dubai during Ramadan. His exit led to actor Karan Kundrra replacing him in the series. Fans particularly enjoyed his chemistry and comic timing with fellow contestant Elvish, which added a fun dynamic to the show.

Earlier controversy

This isn’t the first time Rozik has been caught in controversy. In 2023, he was questioned by India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering probe involving a hospitality company. Though he wasn’t named as an accused, the news generated widespread media attention.
