A man’s body matching the description of the swimmer who went missing at Lighthouse Beach in Evanston was pulled out of Lake Michigan Saturday, according to the suburban officials.

A fishing charter operating about two miles off Dempster Street Beach discovered the body at about 6:40 a.m. and notified the Coast Guard, who then informed the Evanston Fire Department, the city said in a news release. The fire department then recovered the body, saying it fits the description of the missing 41-year-old man. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

Officials began searching for the man last Sunday around 4 p.m. after he was lost in the water. Recovery efforts were suspended the next day after officials said they exhausted all search areas. Authorities have not released the identity of the missing man.

A bystander rescued a woman and two teenage girls. One of the girls was transported to an area hospital, where she was treated and released.

The beach was under a red flag warning, indicating dangerous waters and that swimming isn’t permitted. Lifeguards aren’t on duty when red flags are in place.
