Boy, 16, beaten in street before being struck by vehicle overnight on Northwest Side

A 16-year-old boy was beaten down in the street by a group of males who got into a vehicle that struck him Friday night and fled the scene in the Jefferson Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 11:45 p.m., the boy was attacked by several males on the street in the 7300 block of West Gregory Street, After battering the victim the males were seen getting into a white sedan and the driver struck the teen before fleeing, police said.

The boy suffered a  broken jaw, punctured lungs and other injuries, and was taken in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said.

Detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the brutal assault, and no one was in custody.
