Chicago police investigating West Side shooting that left 15-year-old boy critically wounded

A 15-year-old boy was critically wounded Saturday evening in a shooting on the West Side, Chicago police said.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 100 block of North Lavergne Avenue in the Austin neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found the 15-year-old who had been shot in the chest area. The teen was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was last listed in critical condition.

Chicago police said they had nobody in custody, and detectives from Area Four were investigating.
