A class 10 student died of a heart attack on Thursday morning while walking to her school in Telangana’s Kamareddy district.
Sri Nidhi, 16 originally hailed from Singarayapalli village in Ramareddy mandal and lived in Kamareddy to pursue her studies in a private school, reported NDTV.
On Thursday, she suffered chest pain near the school and collapsed, the officials said. She was immediately rushed to a hospital as soon as a school teacher noticed her.
Doctors gave her initial treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but referred her to another hospital after she did not respond. The student was declared dead of a heart attack at the second hospital.
Last month, an eight-year-old girl in Ahmedabad collapsed and died in the school lobby, said the school in a statement.
On January 10, the student arrived at school as usual. Shortly after climbing the stairs, to the first floor, she felt unwell and sat down on a chair, said the school in the statement.
“Within moments, she collapsed. Our teachers immediately administered CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and rushed her to the nearest hospital,” said the statement by the management of Zebar School for Children in Ahmedabad.
“Despite their efforts, the doctors informed us that she suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital,” it added.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera where the girl was seen stopping in the middle of the corridor to her classroom for a few seconds before walking to a chair a few metres ahead. She sat on the chair and collapsed a few moments later.
In December last year, a 14-year-old boy, Mohit Chaudhary in Aligarh died of a heart attack while practising for a school sports competition.
The class 8 student collapsed after he completed two rounds of running with his friends. His friends immediately informed his family, who rushed him to a nearby hospital. The doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
