Tejashvi Yadav, a famous Indian politician, made a big claim as he said that the star India cricketer Virat Kohli played under his captaincy in domestic cricket. The former deputy chief minister of Bihar and son of Bihar’s former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said that while his cricket career is largely forgotten, he was a standout player in domestic cricket.

Tejashwi expressed disappointment that his cricket career has remained untalked about, despite being a standout player during his time in the domestic circuit. He also mentioned that several current Indian cricket team members were his contemporaries.

“I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played in my captaincy -did anyone ever talk about it? Why don’t they do so? As a professional, I played good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates.

“I had to quit as both my ligaments were fractured. Let it be,” Yadav told Zee Media during an interview.”

Tejashwi Yadav Played Junior Cricket With Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma

Tejashwi was a right-handed batter with a lengthy career in junior cricket for the Delhi team. Having lived in Delhi, he represented the capital state during his playing days.

Yadav played 4 T20 matches in his professional cricket career but got the opportunity to bat in only one inning, where he scored 3 runs. Additionally, he played 2 List-A matches and one first-class match. Across all 7 matches in his career, he managed to take one wicket.

Tejashwi and Virat indeed played several matches together for Delhi in junior cricket. Tejashwi made his debut for the Delhi Under-15 team under Virat’s captaincy in 2003, in a match against Jammu and Kashmir, where Delhi secured a convincing victory by an innings and 55 runs.

Tejashwi eventually became the captain of the Delhi Under-18 cricket team and continued playing for Delhi until 2008. Virat, on the other hand, played his last junior cricket match for Delhi in 2007.

Tejashwi also played alongside Ishant Sharma in junior cricket. Virat made his India debut in 2008, while Ishant’s first appearance came in 2007.

Tejashwi made his first-class debut for Jharkhand in 2010. He was also part of the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) in the Indian Premier League ( IPL), though he never made his debut in the tournament. After stepping away from cricket, Tejashwi entered politics, contesting the Bihar assembly elections in 2015, and later served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
