Delhi Election 2025: Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are expected to be held in February. The Aam Aadmi Party, which has been ruling Delhi since 2015, is locking horns with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has also ruled out any possibility of an alliance with the Congress despite both being constituents of the INDIA bloc.

The previous assembly election for the 70 seats in the national capital was concluded in February 2020. The AAP emerged as the single-largest party and registered a landslide victory securing 62 seats.

Ahead of the assembly polls, here are the assembly seats in Delhi and their incumbent MLAs:

Delhi Logs 1.67 Lakh New Electors Added In 2 Months, Totaling Over 1.55 Crore Registered Voters

Delhi’s final electoral roll, published on January 6, reveals a remarkable surge in registered voters, surpassing 1.55 crore. The increase is of 1,67,329 electors in just over two months. The total number of voters in Delhi now stands at 1,55,24,858, comprising 83,49,645 male voters, 71,73,952 female voters, and 1,261 third-gender voters.

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office reported a surge in applications for new voter registration, with over 5.1 lakh applications received in the last 20 days. This increase occurred after the official claims and objections period concluded on November 28, 2024. The updated electoral roll reflects a net gain of 1,67,329 voters since the draft publication on October 29, 2024.

This growth is particularly noteworthy, as Delhi’s electoral roll has witnessed a significant rise of 8,06,739 voters since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Before the Lok Sabha polls on January 22, 2024, the total number of voters in Delhi was 1,47,18,119.

The final roll highlights the growing participation of young citizens, with a notable increase in the number of first-time voters aged 18-19, rising by 52,554. Among the constituencies, Vikaspuri boasts the largest electorate with 4,62,184 voters, while Delhi Cantt holds the distinction of having the smallest electorate with 78,893 voters.

Tilak Nagar stands out with the highest gender ratio, registering 967 females per 1,000 males, while Okhla records the lowest ratio at 731. Notably, the gender ratio has improved to 859 females per 1,000 males, and the elector-population ratio has reached 71.45, an increase of two points.
