A case of assault on Delhi Police personnel has been reported from the Bhalswa Dairy area, where police officers were allegedly attacked by the owner of a motorcycle and his family members after the vehicle was taken to the police station for being found without proper documents.
The incident took place in Janta Vihar, Mukundpur, on Saturday (August 22). According to police, the accused allegedly assaulted the personnel with sticks, bricks and stones and threw chilli powder into their eyes.
Police Officers Attacked With Sticks, Stones
The attackers allegedly threw chilli powder into the eyes of the police personnel and assaulted them with bricks, stones and sticks. Head Constable Tinu, who arrived at the spot to assist the officers, was also allegedly attacked.
Three police personnel were injured in the incident. Head Constable Dinesh suffered a head injury. All three injured officers were provided medical treatment and are said to be in stable condition.
According to the Delhi Police, the incident occurred around 3.30 pm on August 22 when personnel were conducting routine patrols and checking vehicles. During the checking, they seized a vehicle, following which its owner and another person allegedly attacked the police personnel.
A video purportedly showing the incident has also surfaced on social media.
Minor Held, FIR Registered
Police apprehended a 17-year-old minor at the spot, while the other accused managed to flee. An FIR, numbered 537/26, has been registered under Sections 221, 132, 121(1), 110, 61 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The main accused, identified as Sunil alias Pankaj, is reportedly a bad character (BC) of the area. Police said he has five previous criminal cases against him, including two cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and other serious offences.
Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused.
