‘Didn’t Lead The Side Well’: Former India Spinner’s Brutal Remark On David Warner

In the ongoing IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals have been going through a lean patch. They have won just two games out of 8 matches under the leadership of David Warner. Many cricket pundits have been criticizing Warner’s batting and his leadership skills as the left-hander has a very below-average strike rate in the IPL 2023.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh also spoke about the same and blamed Warner for DC’s poor run so far. “I don’t think they can make a comeback, and the entire reason for that is captain. He didn’t lead the side well, and then his form was an issue. It has been very disappointing. Warner was dismissed earlier today (vs SRH), which is why Delhi came so close. If he had played 50 balls, that would’ve been 50 balls wasted and DC would’ve lost by 50 runs,” Harbhajan said.

The legendary off-spinner also talked about Warner’s strike rate this season. Despite scoring 306 runs in 8 matches, his strike rate is very ordinary at just 118.60.

“Even now, when he comes to presentations, he says about other players’ mistakes. But what have you done? You didn’t show any intent; you scored 300+ runs but look at your strike rate. Warner hasn’t really done justice to his stature this year. His 300 runs are of no use to DC. Warner needs to look in the mirror if he wants to find a reason for DC being at the bottom,” Harbhajan added.

The former India bowlers also suggested that the Delhi Capitals should appoint Axar Patel as the captain of the team going forward in the season. There are six games to be played in the remainder of the league stage of the IPL and in order o qualify for the playoffs, Delhi Capitals have to win all their matches.
