Elderly woman and man, 65, pronounced dead in overnight fire in Austin neighborhood

An elderly woman and a 65-year-old man were fatally injured in a residential fire overnight on the West Side in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 12:35 a.m. Saturday, police and fire officials responded to a residential fire where a 62-year-old man was able to exit unharmed. However, another man, 65 years of age, was pronouced dead at the scene.

An 88-year-old woman was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park where she was pronounced dead.

There were no other injuries reported in the deadly fire and officials were investigating the cause of the blaze.
