“I think we did everything we set out to do. We aimed to score quickly, put pressure on the bowlers, and when we bowled, we focused on taking wickets. Obviously, it wasn’t our day today, but hopefully, things will turn around in the next game. We were definitely on track for a big score, but it just wasn’t meant to be. It was tough out there against the spinners. The ball was gripping the surface a bit, but we probably didn’t rotate the strike as well as we wanted to, and in the end, we fell short of a par score.”
“I think a few of us played well. Personally, I felt good out there, so I’ll take those positives forward. Rash (Adil Rashid) bowled well, and a few of the other lads did too. It’s a long series, and hopefully, we can build on this momentum.”
Mitchell Marsh (Australia Captain):
“Yeah very happy, thought it was a great win for us. Especially with the way England got of to a start with the bat but the way we came back in the game in the final 20 overs worked out really well for us. Well I wish I could take the credit for it but it was a forced change. A few messages came from the dressing room to take pace of the game and it worked out really well for us.”
“It’s not in our control though but hopefully the rest of the players remain safe. We have a lot of trust on the players who are getting their opportunity and looking forward to the next game after a good start to the series.”
