An Aurora home was deemed uninhabitable after a fire Dec. 22 on the 700 block of Second Avenue in the city, Aurora Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at the single-family home at approximately 6:32 p.m. on Dec. 22, according to a press release from the Aurora Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported heavy fire on the roof and rear of the home’s second floor, according to the release.
With access from the front partially obstructed, crews initiated an interior attack against the fire from the rear of the home, officials said. Additional teams worked to suppress the fire on the second floor.
The fire was brought under control within 36 minutes of the first unit’s arrival, officials said.
A dog was rescued from the home, and one occupant was assessed and released on scene with no reported injuries, according to the release.
The structure was deemed uninhabitable, and the residents made arrangements to stay with relatives in Aurora, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the release.
