New Delhi: Fasting is practised in many religions in order to please the almighty. On the contrary, it is extremely important in detoxifying the body. Many dietitians and doctors advise fasting to rid the body of toxins and give it a rest to cleanse.

Apart from religious reasons, people have chosen to fast as part of their diet. Intermittent fasting is a common type of diet that has been shown to help people lose weight. As people fast, they become confused about what to consume during the fast.

Here is a list of food items that you can consume during fasting that will help you stay energised throughout the day.

1. Fruits:

Fruits have been shown to be the healthiest fasting food as they provide fibre, vitamins, minerals, and a lot of water, which prevents dehydration. Additionally, they provide critical nutrients as well. You can always consider having bananas if no other fruit is available, as they are high in carbohydrates and protein, which provide the body with rapid energy.

2. Curd:

Curd is the next big thing that can you can consume while fasting. It not only tastes fantastic, but it is also beneficial for detoxifying your gut. Additionally, it contains probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help improve digestion and support the immune system.

3. Sabudana:

Fasting can cause you to feel more hungry than usual. It’s because, despite consuming a wide range of foods, the staples wheat and rice are absent from your plate. Sabudana is a high-calorie, carbohydrate-rich snack that provides energy to the body while fasting. It is the finest gluten-free alternative to wheat and rice, with several benefits such as improved digestion and weight loss.

4. Nuts:

Antioxidants abound in nuts. They are filling, healthy, and delicious. If you’re hungry but don’t want to spend time cooking, pop up some nuts like almonds, peanuts, and so on. They will provide your body with a boost of energy.

5. Coconut:

Coconut includes both soluble and insoluble fibre, which can aid in the promotion of feelings of fullness and the reduction of hunger sensations while fasting. Furthermore, coconut water is a natural source of hydration and electrolytes, which can aid in the replenishment of fluids and minerals lost while fasting. It is also high in nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and iron, all of which are beneficial to overall health and well-being.
