Former Bears guard Nate Davis lists home in Highland Park for $5 million

Former Chicago Bears guard Nate Davis has placed his recently renovated, four-bedroom, 5,537-square-foot house on 1.28 acres in Highland Park on the market for $5 million.

The oft-injured Davis, 28, signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Bears last year but was released from the team in November after he lost his starting role.

Davis paid $2.3 million in May 2023 for the brick house, which was built in 2003 and designed by Evanston architect Michael Hershenson. Set at the end of a winding, wooded drive, the house has five bathrooms, three fireplaces, a kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a family room with built-ins, a large breakfast room, a formal dining room, a custom-designed office with views of the yard and ravine and a family room with windows on three sides overlooking the back yard and ravine.

The home’s primary bedroom suite has a custom laundry room, a private screened porch, a custom walk-in closet, a soaking tub, heated floors in the bathroom and an oversized custom separate shower and heated floors. Meanwhile, the house’s lower level is a finished basement with 10-foot ceilings and custom lighting, along with a bedroom, a fitness room, a bar/kitchen, a game room, a large area and storage.

Davis gave a significant overhaul to the house after buying it, using interior designer Sloane Wyler and Skokie-based contractor America’s Custom Home Builders.

“This whole house remodel project transformed a dated, 2000s-style home into a sleek, modern masterpiece,” listing agent Paul Gorney of eXp Realty told Elite Street. “The outdated house was replaced with fresh, neutral paint, while sleek hardwood floors and stairs added warmth and sophistication. In the kitchen, we installed custom cabinetry with minimalist hardware, a spacious island topped with stone and state-of-the-art appliances. Bathrooms were revamped with contemporary fixtures, walk-in showers and chic tile designs. This comprehensive renovation not only revitalized the home’s aesthetic but also infused it with modern functionality, creating a welcoming space that beautifully combines form and function.”

Davis’ property adjoins the landmark former Ben Rose auto pavilion, which was made famous in the film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

For now, the home is listed in an agents-only private listing network.

The house had a $62,978 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year.
