Gary hosting parade, fireworks on Wednesday

The City of Gary will host its annual Independence Day Celebration Parade at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

More than 60 groups will participate in the parade, including performances from local high school marching bands and dance teams, and a variety of floats from Mayor Eddie Melton, City Council members, and other members of the community. The parade will start at 18th Avenue and Broadway and end at Buffington Park, 300 E. 6th Avenue.

After the parade, there will be a fireworks display at the Gary RailCats Steelyard, located at 1 Stadium Plaza.
